After Restoring as New iPhone, the issue was fixed: no more WiFi disconection when the screen is "sleeping" I too have (mostly) resolved via a restore. Interesting to note maybe that I originally setup the iPhone just two weeks ago using the android to ios' option followed by an iOS update (to 10.3.3).
